Fort Worth is in for a real treat tonight. Singer/songwriter and former member of Austin’s Asylum Street Spankers Guy Forsyth brings his multi-instrumental talents to The Stockyards for what is sure to be a night of unforgettable music.

The multi-time Austin Music Award winner’s latest and fourth recording for his own Small and Nimble record label, Calico Girl, finds new songs and re-recorded tracks from his earlier career mingling together, and he has released collaborative efforts with Austin blues favorite Carolyn Wonderland alongside several live recordings.

Striving to learn the music he fell in love with, a gritty, organic folk and blues, Forsyth began singing and by age 16 had taken to the harmonica before a chance encounter with the music of Robert Johnson turned him to guitar. Today the Guy Forsyth Band mixes their own brand of music borrowing from folk, country, Tin Pan Alley and rock to forge their very distinctive sound.

No stranger to the stage, Forsyth is a regular along the national and international festival circuit. Appearances at Kerrville Folk Festival, Austin City Limits, High Sierra Music Festival, Denmark’s Tonder Festival and Belgium’s Rhythm ‘N’ Blues Festival have kept him in high demand.

The festival circuit stalwart brings his show to Fort Worth’s Basement Bar tonight with Guthrie Kennard.
