Preview: The Orbans and Quiet Company – The Wild Rooster Bar, Fort Worth, TX – 06/10/2011

Fort Worth. Here’s your show of the night. One of Fort Worth’s favorites teams up with one of Austin’s finest exports for a night of music that’s not to be missed. Hometown boys The Orbans are home after a pair of shows in Denver with Ben Harper, and were able to lure Austin’s Quiet Company to Fort Worth after a way too long an absence – from what I can recall it’s been almost 2 years since Quiet Company graced a Fort Worth stage.

For those unfamiliar, The Orbans have had a blockbuster past couple of years, releasing one of 2010’s best efforts, When We Were Wild to critical acclaim with their take on Americana influenced indie rock. Meanwhile, 3 hours south, Quiet Company has been anything but quiet, moving to the forefront of Austin’s music scene on the strength of their rollicking, upbeat, piano driven songs and their latest release, 2010’s excellent Songs For Staying In appeared on numerous year end lists. This marks the first time these two acts converge, providing a solid night of music. This is a great bill, and have been excited about it since I first caught wind of it.

Be sure to get there early, catching a show like this in a venue this size doesn’t happen often.
