Volume: The Cush – The Moon – Fort Worth, TX – 11/05/2010
Okay. I continue to tell you about Fort Worth’s psychedelic/indie rock outfit The Cush. Last night they debuted their latest lineup at The Moon in Fort Worth – mainstays husband/wife team of Gabrielle and Burette Douglas, relative newcomer former Earl/Pinkston/Dove Hunter/Burden Brother Josh Daugherty (who I have stated for many years is my favorite D/FW musician) on guitar/pedal steel, and the brand new addition of former Doosu/Flickerstick and current The Light Fantastic drummer Todd Harwell filling out the band.
I am not a hypeman in any way. As a matter of fact, I prefer to stay fairly reserved when talking about bands. With this lineup, out of the three times I have seen The Cush, this was the most confident, cohesive unit yet. I am not going to be shy about it. This is the band I am most excited about for the not so distant future. Creatively, the door has been blown wide open.
This year’s Between The Leaves album is fantastic, and I absolutely cannot wait for collaborative new music from these folks. I think it’s going to be off the charts. Go see them.
